We undertake a range of engagements with current work approximately split as:
35% compliance
15% Insolvency Appointments and Restructures
50% Specialised services including business valuations, tax opinions and advising, IM preparations for capital & debt raising, due diligence on business acquisitions, IRD voluntary disclosures & negotiations.
The staff at BASE are never just given the answer to complex situations they are required to undertake research and present their solutions.
About the role
We are looking for a solutions focused accountant who can adapt to a changing environment.
- Xero reconciliation for clients
- Answer client coding queries
- Prepare and process wages and PAYE returns for clients
- Prepare and process GST returns for clients
- Prepare Monthly Management Accounts for clients
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements for companies, individuals, trusts & partnerships.
- Prepare Income Tax Returns for companies, individuals, trusts & partnerships.
- Prepare dividend documentation for companies
- Prepare budgets & cash flow forecasts for clients
- Tax research for complex tax matters
Purpose of the Role:
- Support clients with queries throughout the year
- Assist clients with tax compliance obligations
- Assist the senior accountants with tax research

Skills and experience
- Relevant accounting or business (with accounting major) tertiary qualification
- At least 2 years’ accounting experience in a small or mid-size accounting firm
- Ideally studying toward CAANZ accreditation
- Competent in Xero
- Able to prepare financial statements
- Able to prepare GST & PAYE returns
- Strong problem solver and analytical thinker
- Competent in MS products
- Strong written and verbal communication
- NZ citizen or residence visa holder
Preferences
- Experience in a firm that undertakes insolvency appointments
- Experience interacting with clients.
