We’re searching for an experienced Accountant to join our Finance Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management, preparation and reporting of accounting and financial data for NG/E. Assisting the Finance Team, this role will be a key contributor to the daily and monthly financial processing.

Next Generation Electrical (NG/E) are a large Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) provider offering national services. We have a strong focus on delivering renewable energy solutions, such as solar farms, commercial rooftop solar and microgrids and have recently developed the New Markets business. This exciting new business provides commercial and industrial electrical services such as infrastructure upgrades, complex lighting automation, communication, small cell technology roll-out; and, underground pole to pit works, telecommunication connections and embedded networks.

The Role

The Accountant is an exciting role for NG/E. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is based in our Richmond head office and plays a critical role in our Finance Team. Key accountabilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Daily bank reconciliations
• Assisting AR & AP inquiries and processes
• Fortnightly payroll processing and reporting
• Assisting in month-end processes and reporting
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts and maintaining fixed asset register
• Preparation of periodic financial and/or management reports for different business divisions
• Assisting in budgetary control and cost-analysis
• Assisting in financial audits, statutory compliance and lodgements
• Coordinating accounting data with other departments and operational divisions as required
• Maintaining and improving procedures
• Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the company

Skills & Experience

The role will ideally suit an experienced and commercially astute Accountant with a positive can-do attitude. The successful candidate will be able to problem solve, have a proactive work ethic coupled with the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

• Bachelor degree and/or equivalent accounting qualification essential
• Minimum of 4-year experience in similar position(s)
• CPA/CA or currently undertaking CPA/CA program
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Self-motivated with high levels energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
• Attention to detail with superior organisational skills & the ability to prioritise and plan multiple activities and meet objectives within established timelines
• Able to effectively communicate at all organisational levels in both verbal & written form 
• Integrity – Maintains legal, social and organisational standards and values and honours commitments
• Fundamental understanding of legislation associated with preparation & maintenance of organisational financials (including payroll and GST)
• Preferred public practice experience
• Preferred (but not essential) Xero and SimPro experience
