An exciting opportunity exists for a competent and motivated accountant to join a business undergoing rapid growth. The role would suit a professional who has a desire to make their mark on the business in a significant way and take control of the company’s financial affairs. This is a Perth CBD based role.
 
The Company is currently in an expansion phase as it transitions from exploration to production.  With growing complexity in the business, the right candidate must be able to work productively immediately.  Experience in the mining/resources industry is essential.

The Position / Responsibilities

 

• Management of group general ledger and all accounting transactions
• Processing of required monthly journals such as accruals, prepayments, payroll journals and other standing journals
• Intercompany charges and reconciliations
• Manage fixed asset register
• Bank and credit card processing and reconciliations
• Fortnightly Payroll including SGC and payroll tax requirements
• BAS, IAS returns and payroll tax returns
• Manage accounts payable process and procedures
• Generate required management reports, including cost reports, expenditure commitments, as well as statutory interim and final financial statements. 
• Joint venture cash call management and accounting for the contributions 
• Maintain and develop existing detailed cashflow reporting
• Undertake tax accounting for annual tax returns
• Be adaptable to assist with routine work and new business activities as they arise
• Able to step up and initially assist with consolidations and JV reporting, with a view to taking these functions over in due course

Qualification, Skills & Experience:

 

• Accounting or Commerce degree, CA or CPA Qualified 
• 5+ years post qualification experience in the resources sector
• Ability to work independently plus organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment.
• Possess a positive attitude and be a team player
• Experience with MYOB and exposure to Pronto or other ERP systems desirable
