Here is why we want to speak to you, you’ll have:

• Excellent communication skills. The Villa team prides itself on top-notch communication within the team and with our clients. You’ll be dealing with business owners on a daily basis, so great communication via phone and email is a top priority. We always strive to be approachable, you’ll need to be able to switch easily between “accountant speak” and business owner conversation easily.
• Experience within a New Zealand Chartered Accounting firm.
• A drive to work with our clients to achieve success, whatever that looks like for each individual business. This is important, we are not “just another accounting firm” and we pride ourselves as being a part of our client’s team.
• A desire to continue to learn, grow and develop your professional skills.
• A good handle on New Zealand regulations.
• Excellent computer skills, with knowledge of Xero an advantage.
• The ability to prepare financial statements, income tax and GST returns and other IRD compliance work.
• Excellent time management skills, and you’ll be able to follow procedures and keep detailed and tidy work papers.
• Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.

More about the role and responsibilities:

• Prepare and review annual financial statements for company statutory reporting for a diverse portfolio of Northland business clients.
• Prepare and review a variety of clients' tax returns including GST, FBT, PAYE, RWT, and income tax returns.
• Liaise directly with clients and relevant stakeholders on all related compliance matters.
• Develop advisory solutions for clients.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts.
