Luerssen Australia is a subsidiary of Lürssen, a 4th generation family-owned German company that builds Naval defence vessels and luxury yachts from its nine shipyards across Northern Germany.

 

Luerssen Australia is engaged as the prime contractor to build 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Department of Defence over a 12 year period. 

 

The successful applicant will be required to undergo the Australian Defence Force Security Clearance process, of which a minimum requirement is Australian Citizenship.

 

The Role:

Accounts Payable Officer

This role is responsible for the accounts payable function of Luerssen Australia ensuring timely and accurate processing and payment of all invoices. 

 

Responsibilities:

Invoice processing

  • Ensure invoices are approved as per the Company’s delegation of authority
  • Check accuracy of invoices to confirm the document meets the definition of an invoice
  • Accurate input of invoices into SAP with correct coding to cost centres or WBS codes
  • Address and resolve invoice and payment queries from suppliers in a timely manner
  • Maintain accuracy of master supplier data

 

Invoice payment

  • Process payment runs for invoices as per payment terms
  • Contribute inputs to statutory Payment Times Reporting
  • Provide inputs to short term cash flow forecast for upcoming payment runs

 

Other support

  • Perform supplier statement reconciliations 
  • Support month end processes through trade payables, accruals and other reporting
  • Identify and be open to improvements and changes in accounts payable processes
  • Provide ad-hoc accounts receivable support
  • Develop and maintain Accounts Payable plans
  • Provide support to the finance team as required

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of accounts payable experience - essential
  • Accounting software, preferably SAP (intermediate proficiency)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Word and Excel - essential
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting and accounts payable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage financial records
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to build good relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask
  • The ability to work as a team player within a dynamic and continuously changing work environment
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience on a large project with purchase orders
