We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to oversee and coordinate the delivery of the Accounts Payable function (including bank reconciliations and BAS preparation) of the Ahrens Group and associated entities. Reporting to the Finance Administration Manager and based at our Kingsford head office, the role will coordinate and allocate tasks to members of the Accounts Payable team, to ensure timely and efficient processing and act as the Accounts Payable subject matter expert for internal and external queries and support.

 

Key Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Coordinate and allocate tasks to team members to ensure all deadlines and agreed service delivery targets are achieved;
  • BAS preparation, reconciliation and lodgement;
  • Monthly Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable reconciliations and associated tasks;
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations;
  • Ensure invoices are paid accurately and efficiently, in line with internal authorisation and agreed payment terms;
  • Manage the processing of invoices through our electronic AP workflow system (CAAPS);
  • Daily cash flow management;
  • Checking of processes undertaken by the Accounts Payable team; such as payment batches or changes made to the Supplier Sub ledger;
  • Expense allocation via journals for fuel cards and other monthly corporate invoices;
  • Provide general support and back up to the Payroll Coordinator as required.

 

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • General understanding of basic accounting processes and principles and aptitude to learn quickly;
  • Strong aptitude for problem solving and reconciling;
  • Strong experience in a fast paced, high volume Accounts Payable role;
  • Highly developed time management capabilities;
  • Exposure to large organisations with multiple entities / divisions;
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with ability to work well in a large team;
  • Candidates who have experience in team leadership, CAAPs software or Pronto software will be highly regarded.
