Assistant Accountant

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team based in Tauranga. 

Our company manufactures, and exports premium NZ made Pet food, predominantly for the US and Asian markets.  

This role will include daily accounts input, support to the financial accountant in the preparation of Monthly Management accounts and End of year accounts, IRD Compliance reporting, product procurement, costings, export/import shipping and logistics, Eligibility declaration preparation and administration tasks and other ad-hoc accounting duties.

Previous experience and knowledge in food manufacturing industry would be a real advantage. 

You should be dynamic, energetic and able to think outside the box, and be able to work extra hours when required.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Accounting and accounts processing
• Inventory Management and data transfer
• Month-end and Year-end reporting
• Annual Accounts
• Asset management
• Statutory/IRD reporting
• Cashflow management
• Payroll
• Debtors & Creditors
• Backup for Shipping Documentation 

Skills & Qualifications:

• The ideal applicant would ideally have a minimum Accounting technician qualification or bachelor degree, obtained in New Zealand.
• At least 3 years senior administration experience or 2 years CA experience, in New Zealand.
• Ideally will have experience in a medium sized manufacturing environment.
• Experience across all aspects of accounting and administration
• Microsoft office with strong Excel skills
• Experience with MYOB
• Strong numerical accuracy
• Inventory management experience.
• Shipping/ freight forwarding experience.

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and above qualifications with expected salary range of $55,000- $68,000
