Business Analyst (Insights & Analysis)

• Key member of the commercial finance team partnering with the Buying and Replenishment Team

About the role

The role is responsible for helping to consolidate the weekly, monthly sales and GP results and contribute to the forecast and budgeting process across commercial.

Key responsibilities: 

• Deliver insightful analysis and commercial recommendations across sales, gross profit and inventory
• Work closely with partner teams (eCom, Loyalty, Format, Foodco, Cartology, Stock Loss etc.) to understand performance drivers and achieve strategic alignment with the buying team 
• Drive monthly Overhead, Headcount and Capex Reporting and Forecasting process, ensure a timely & accurate month-end completion
• Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting
• Contribute to the end to end process of the annual operating plan ensuring there is a link to the strategic plan, where capital and opex investments are linked to benefits, where appropriate
• Identify key drivers of profit and opportunities for business improvement across all levels and across key sales categories 
• Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of budgeting and forecasting process
• Develop and implement process improvements (with support) to ensure a standard, lean and efficient operating model
• Identify process improvement with the support of the Always Improving and Group Systems and Data teams and lead change to implement these improvements
• Work across Finance to ensure we have integrity in our underlying systems and data

About you

You are an effective business partner with advanced analytical and problem solving skills, comfortable working with large volumes of data sets. You are able to identify opportunities to provide crucial insights which contributes to better decision making.  

• CA/CPA qualification or working towards qualification 
• Strong presentation and storyboarding skills
• Able to communicate complex financial information to a broad audience; able to make the complex simple
• Ability to prioritise team efforts to support business requirements
• Advanced experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Excel, Powerpoint, SAP, Retail BW and GCP
