About the role:

The role of the Business Development Analyst is to co-ordinate and complete the preparation of Capital Expenditure Proposals for new stores, upgrades, merchandising initiatives, acquisitions, and other major projects for Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the Business Development Manager – Network Projects, the Business Development Analyst is a key stakeholder to ensure optimal commercial outcomes are achieved for capital expenditure projects greater than $1 million in relation to store network changes.

 

As the Business Development Analyst, you can expect to: 

  • Prepare feasibility assessments of major capital projects over $5.0 million
  • Review capital expenditure proposals between $1.0 - $5.0 million, supporting business units and Commercial Finance
  • Prepare capital evaluation proposals for submission to senior executives, the Bunnings Board and Wesfarmers Board
  • Provide value-add analysis of capital evaluation proposals to ensure effective and efficient decision-making by senior executives
  • Reporting of capital projects approved to senior executives and the Bunnings Board
  • Review and assessment of outcomes of major capital projects following implementation
  • Monitor and report on local and international retail peers
  • Support in the research and development of new business opportunities
  • Develop / enhance systems, processes and procedures that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of decision-making within the business
  • Assist with the evaluation and integration of acquisition opportunities

 

You’ll need: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline
  • CA/CPA qualified (and/or equivalent) or currently studying towards this
  • 4-6 years financial experience – Retail & Customer Service industries highly regarded
  • Retail experience in commercially orientated role beneficial
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Proven exposure in environment where commercial judgement skills are utilised
  • Strong communication & stakeholder management skills and inspire proactive action across all business functions
