This well established, Australian owned building organisation with a reputation for excellence in their field and a wealth of industry knowledge and success is now looking for an equally experienced Financial Controller with strong commercial acumen and business partnering skills to take ownership of the accounting and finance function.

The role will include and be responsible for the following types of duties;

  • Preparation of monthly management reports and analysis.
  • Managing HomeOwners' Warranty Insurance bi-annual submissions and any point-to-point requirements.
  • Liaison with company bankers and provide regular financial updates and commentary in-line with facility requests and covenants.
  • Full ownership of the budgeting and forecasting process and procedure.
  • Oversight and supervision of the payroll, AP & AR function and associated team members.
  • Reporting & presenting to the MD and other owners/shareholders.
  • IT system ownership with enhancements &/or new implementations.
  • Liaison with external accountants on all statutory items and financial reporting needs for half year and year-end purposes on an individual and consolidated basis.
  • Cashflow reporting and co-ordination.
  • Assist MD and management team on any daily matters concerning accounts, finance, administrative and legal matters.

The ideal candidate will be CA/CPA qualified, have a proven background and track record as a Financial Controller in the building or construction industry for at least 5 years, prior experience at this level in a SME due to the "hands-on" nature of the role, be a seasoned leader of staff and succeed when given the opportunity to train and mentor a team, have good excel skills and enjoy working in roles where you are hands-on whilst at the same time assisting with the business to drive change.
