Our Client

VetNZ was born out of the belief that being rural shouldn’t compromise the quality of veterinary services available. With humble beginnings in the deep south through VetSouth, VetNZ now extends throughout NZ, with investments beyond encompassing West Coast Vets and Veterinary Clinic Morrinsville. VetNZ partner with like minded clinics, servicing the animal health needs of rural communities, bringing the lessons learnt from building their own.  They trace back to the 1920’s in Southland, 1940’s on the West Coast and the 1980’s in Waikato, coming together as like minded veterinarians. Their growth has been based on delivering better veterinary services, appreciating the benefits of a specialist support structure while retaining local leadership.  Their veterinarians are their shareholders and local leaders, relishing the opportunity to be hands-on with animals. At the same time they have the confidence that their business and people are being well supported by the wider VetNZ team.

The Role

Southland based and reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for spearheading financial stewardship to strategically drive the business. In this leading role, you will ensure the integrity and efficiency of all financial functions within the group to drive financial stability and sustainability. You will lead corporate, financial and risk management operations, develop long term financial and operational strategies and implement sound financial practices and superior service standards. You will demonstrate a strategic mindset to support the business in evaluating and advising on company direction. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership and direction to your team, managing the finance and administration functions, as well as enhancing financial methodologies and procedures through automation and system integration. You will be a collaborative participant in the senior leadership team and play a pivotal role, as part of that team, in leading the organisation through its vision and values.

This role requires a down to earth CA qualified Accountant with proven experience in a similar role. You will have superior leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop your team, the wider business and develop strong internal and external relationships. Ideally you will have an empathy for the rural sector, strong commercial acumen and a proven background in M&A or business integration.  Vital to this role is the ability to think and act strategically and take a commercial perspective.
