Located in Traralgon, Gippsland Water provides fresh clean drinking water and wastewater services to a population of more than 140,000 across central Gippsland.
The organisation plays a pivotal role in the community, not only through the provision of its services today, but the planning, building and enhancing of infrastructure to underpin and support a growing region which has much to offer, from affordable housing to quality schooling, to access to some of the State’s best natural points of interest. With responsibility for more than $1 billion in assets, Gippsland Water is planning to invest more $250 million over the next five years on infrastructure to support the delivery of its services.

Forming part of the Executive team, this role will report to a progressive and engaging Managing Director who seeks a strong business partner in this key strategic role. You will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the organisation’s financial sustainability, corporate governance, procurement, risk management, and legal and economic regulatory compliance. Your focus will be to ensure a long term commercial and sustainable approach exists within the business, and that financial decisions are aligned with customer values and efficient outcomes.
You will be comfortable developing a mandate of change and improvement across the various business units, as well as engaging with stakeholders who are open to new ideas. As a natural forward thinker, you will possess a growth mindset and be able to draw on your experience and relationship management to influence and lead change.
As a qualified Accountant, you will bring strong commercial acumen and technical expertise from either the public or private sector. Experience working in a regulated environment is desirable, but not essential. You will possess a collaborative and partnership oriented approach to getting things done and enjoy being a natural ‘go to’ person.
