Job Purpose

The Collections Officer will proactively manage client collections in line with payment terms and our Collections Strategy. The role will involve the monitoring of collection status for all accounts to defined collection targets across assigned ledgers. This position will be required to interact with clients by both email and phone.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Manage daily collections against client ledgers and develop client specific strategies to manage collections issues for timely resolution
  • Collect outstanding revenue for specific client accounts to meet individual and team KPIs
  • Understand and appropriately utilise systems and processes for the benefit of debt collection
  • Proactively resolve collections issues and escalate to internal stakeholders and the Collections Team Lead when appropriate
  • Provide collections reports as required
  • Attend receivable meetings with the businesses/team, report on status of collections and work to resolve any collection barriers
  • Support the cashflow forecasting process with inputs to future collections targets
  • Utilise skills, education and experience to represent the Collections function as a ‘subject matter expert’ for each respective ledger
  • Focus on continued process improvement around the collections process and the effective management of internal and external stakeholders
  •  

What we are looking for: 

  • At least 5 years’ demonstrated experience in Collections
  • Assertive and strong negotiation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service ethic
  • Intermediate arithmetic skills; comfortable working with numbers
  • Self-motivated, driven, highly organised and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail to make sure accounts are being action thoroughly and correctly

 

Desirable:

  • Accounting/ Business qualification
  • Some accounting experience
  • Familiarity with account reconciliations and underlying transactions
  • Experience using Maconomy
