About the Role

Based in our national Head Office in Adelaide, this role is responsible for coordinating our annual J-Sox program preparation and compliance of all tax matters and ensuring sound governance and strict compliance to guidelines and principles.

As a key member of the Corporate Planning and Compliance team, this role proactively collaborates with the key stakeholders to remediate any Control deficiencies identified during internal and external auditing as well as facilitate control process improvements also identified.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate in conjunction with our Auditing Partners the annual J-Sox program;
  • Assist the Company Secretary with compliance of regulatory, statutory and legal obligations working within the defined frameworks set by the MMAL Board;
  • Coordinate the ongoing update of the Delegation of Authority (DoA) Handbook as required by Mitsubishi Motor Corporation;
  • Preparation of GST, FBT, Tax and Statement of Taxable Income returns and submittals where applicable;
  • Assisting in formulating budgetary and accounting policies;
  • Preparing financial statements for presentation to our board of directors, management committee, shareholders, and governing and statutory bodies;
  • Financial investigations, preparing reports, undertaking audits and advising on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency and taxation;
  • Examining operating costs and MMAL’s income and expenditure;
  • Providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and compliance with statutory requirements;
  • Providing financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations;
  • Liaising with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements;
  • Maintaining internal control systems;
  • Asses cash flow and financial risk of capital investment projects.

What you’ll need to Join Our Team

  • A degree in Business or Accounting with an excellent understanding of compliance / internal audit techniques
  • J-Sox experience 
  • Membership of CPA / CPA status
  • Minimum 5 years Accounting experience working in a compliance role in a corporate environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills
  • Process driven with strong technical writing capability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Sound analytical capability
  • Understanding of SAP is desirable
