Environment Canterbury Regional Council is seeking an experienced multi-disciplinary accountant to supplement the Corporate Reporting team. This is a permanent role. We’re looking for a financial all-rounder as the work of the corporate reporting team includes annual planning/reporting, financial and management accounting, fixed asset accounting, rates setting and reconciliation, internal audit and monthly reporting to council. Environment Canterbury manages $1 billion of long-term assets and has a $195 million annual operating budget. There are 720 FTE employees in several professional and technical disciplines, that are responsible for taking action together to shape a thriving and resilient Canterbury, now and for future generations. We need someone who understands how the financial management of a large organisation works in practice. The Corporate Reporting team is focussed on continuous improvement, for the first three to six months this role will be working on process review, documentation and improvement therefore proven experience in this area would be useful. You will have at least five years practical experience in an accounting role including financial and management reporting. Ideally this experience will be in a large organisation. Other attributes we seek are; a great communicator, able to deliver to strict deadlines, can build relationships and work collaboratively, and someone who enjoys working in a diverse team. As part of the Finance team supporting the wider Environment Canterbury, you will need to be proactive in ensuring project tasks are completed and support is provided to other team members.
