Foundation Learning Centre (FLC) has been established for over 35 years and is a Not-For-Profit Learn Local Community Education Provider in the Southern Metropolitan Region. FLC is a Registered Training Organisation and a Registered Non School Senior Secondary provider.

The Re-engagement and Early Intervention Programs run alternative education programs (CGEA) for students between the ages of 12 – 16 years, who are disengaged from education in a mainstream setting for a variety of reasons. We are recognised as one of the leading providers of non-school education in Melbourne, providing nationally accredited training using relevant adult learning principles with a youth focus to keep the young people interested in achieving a range of measurable learning outcomes.

This is permanent part time position of 15 hours per week subject to a 6 month probation with attractive entitlements, including salary sacrifice and generous above award leave entitlements.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with the requirements of the Victorian Child Safe Standards including; adhering to the FLC Code of Conduct; and reporting suspected abuse to the FLC Child Safety Officer
  • To interview and select appropriate candidates for the CGEA program
  • To oversee and coordinate the student wellbeing component of the CGEA program
  • Work alongside and collaborate with the Manager and staff at Operation Newstart Casey on the development and implementation of the REFOCUS program
  • To communicate regularly with home school staff and relevant industry stakeholders
  • In consultation with Compliance Team Leader, CGEA Educators, Home school representatives and GM, design course content and curriculum for the CGEA classes
  • Coordinate, oversee and monitor all administration tasks that are required in the running and development of CGEA and REFOCUS programs at Foundation Learning Centre
  • Schedule student interviews and invite relevant staff and stakeholders when required
  • Monitor and deliver student enrolments and department budget
  • Prepare, record and file student case notes in accordance with FLC confidentiality policy
  • Prepare agendas and chair staff meetings when required
  • Arrange student progress meetings when required
  • Work with BDM to develop and expand program

QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – Including: TAEASS502– TAELLN411
  • Youth Work
  • Welfare and or Community Services
  • Mental Health / AOD

EXPERIENCE

  • Leadership or Coordination Experience
  • Working with young people and their families
  • Community / Education sector experience
  • Case Management experience

KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of AQTF and VRQA standards
  • Understanding of CGEA curriculum
  • Knowledge of local schools and training providers
  • Knowledge of issues facing disadvantaged and disengaged young people within the community and the barriers they face to remain engaged in education and training
