About the Role

Our established Ecology Team is seeking to recruit an Ecologist/Zoologist with at least 4-5 years’ experience to join our Perth based team. The GHD Ecology Team is one of the largest and most experienced Ecology teams in Western Australia, with specialist experience across a wide range of regions, clients and projects. You will work closely with a friendly and supportive team of highly experienced Zoologists, Botanists, Ecologists and Environmental Scientists.  

The primary accountability of the role includes undertaking biological surveys including basic & detailed baseline surveys, targeted conservation significant fauna surveys and pre-clearance fauna surveys throughout Western Australia as well as preparation of technical reports including biological and fauna assessments, constraints assessments and survey documentation to support project approvals and compliance monitoring.

Working with the Ecology Team Leader, Seniors and Principals, this position offers good variety of work and will see you involved in

  • Engaging with clients to understand their needs and working with them to identify solutions
  • Developing proposals and supporting project delivery
  • Delivery and accountability for small to medium biological projects 
  • Field surveys across Western Australia
  • Provision of technical reports, constraints assessments and documentation to support project approvals

What you will bring to the team

  • A firm interest in ecology and an understanding of current environment issues and Commonwealth and WA legislation
  • A proven track record in the technical delivery of fauna and ecology surveys and assessments in WA, with 4-5 years relevant ecological/zoological experience
  • Willingness and motivation to complete field survey and work in a close knit team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely
  • Bachelor degree qualifications in an environmental science, ecology discipline or relevant tertiary qualification
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Demonstrated skills in fauna identification
  • Ability to undertake vegetation assessments in conjunction with fauna surveys highly desirable
  • Ability to undertake field work throughout WA in various environments and sometimes remote locations for various periods of time, sometimes for extended periods. GHD offer a supportive time in lieu arrangement where appropriate
