Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) is the peak state body for the independent schools sector. Established in 1968, it represents the interests of member schools, fostering choice and diversity in education and protecting the autonomy of independent schools. To its 224 member schools, ISQ is an advocate, partner and critical friend.

ISQ advocates for independent schools to government and the community; provides advice, professional learning and resources; and commissions research on important educational matters. With 60 specialist staff, ISQ plays a vital role in the Queensland and national school education scene.

With the forthcoming retirement of Mr David Robertson after 17 years of outstanding service to the organisation (10 as Executive Director), the Board now invites applications for the role of Executive Director from July 2021, or later by arrangement.

The right person for the role will have experience in managing an organisation and also strong strategic thinking skills and demonstrated success in high-level advocacy and representation. A high level of personal drive and integrity, a positive and optimistic outlook, and an unwavering commitment to collegiality in the cause of serving Queensland independent schools will also be essential.

Knowledge of the school education sector, and of independent schools, would be an advantage but not a necessity.
