Our client, a leader in promoting quality teaching and leadership in the education sector, is seeking a Finance Business Partner. The Finance Business Partner is responsible for leading daily finance operations, maintaining the general ledger system, assisting with preparing monthly /quarterly /annual financial statements, preparing budgets across the business, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, reviewing fortnightly payroll calculations, and related duties. They are also responsible for liaising with internal stakeholders and external service providers to manage compliance reviews. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director Business Services, CFO, Business Outsourcing Processing provider and teams across the organisation.

Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Taking a key role in the integration of payroll and finance platforms between Sage People and MYOB Advanced
  • Overseeing operational finance processing and reconciliations of accounts receivable, accounts payable, petty cash, credit card expenditure, review of payroll
  • Manage and follow up bank reconciliation items with Banking and BPO provider
  • Review and improvement of financial and administrative procedures and policies, ensuring operational processes meet policies controls
  • Supporting a continuous improvement programme to build financial planning, forecasting and risk management capability over time and improve integrity of data
  • Preparation of the annual Budget in collaboration with business units and the CFO
  • Support management accounting processes related to project quarterly forecasting, including variance report of budget tracking against actual and forecast
  • Review monthly reconciliation, accrual and employee provision reports
  • Review of Management, Board, End of Year and ad hoc reports, etc.
  • ¬†Prepare detail analysis related to Senate Estimates

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate effective financial management capabilities with a focus on finance operations as well as proactively build and maintain collaborative partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders and provide a high level of support across the business units. CA/CPA qualification and experience with MYOB Advanced preferred.  

To be successful in this role you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, high level stakeholder engagement capabilities, along with the ability to work autonomously and balance competing priorities and be both detail focused and able to look at the bigger picture.

This role will commence asap as a full-time temporary contract until 29th October 2021 with the view to extension or potentially a permanent position for the right candidate. This role will be a combination of working remotely from home and from the Collins Street CBD office, so flexibility is a must! Previous exposure to the Government sector will be highly regarded but not essential.
