About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Finance Director AMEA and with a dotted line to the Managing Director, ANZ; you will lead the GVR Australia Finance function - comprising of a high performing team. You will also be a member of the GVR Australia Executive Leadership Team. Based in our corporate head office in Sydney, this distinct opportunity will challenge and excite you, bringing to life your broad Financial experience and propel you into the next phase of your career.
As the Finance Director your purpose includes:
Strategic business partnering: collaborating with key internal stakeholders ranging from the local MD and Executive Leadership team, to regional MDs and Finance teams and local line Managers. Your focus will be to swiftly build trust and understand the GVR business. Using your financial expertise and knowledge of the business, you will drive commercially focused business decisions and provide counsel on key projects, tenders, and innovative business models.
Contemporary & inclusive Leadership: through a strong emphasis on empowerment, development and succession planning of the Finance team. A key goal you will accomplish is furthering the capability of the team through meaningful discussions, mentoring, coaching and authentic leadership. You have a strong drive to ensure inclusion, diversity and equity not only in the Finance Team, but also the wider GVR business.
Transformation and best practices: you are passionate about financial trends, best practices/ technologies and new ways of working. Using your continuous improvement mindset, you will pioneer fresh ways of working, including the conversion of any transactional processes into value adding capabilities.
Predictable Performance: core to your success will be your ability to develop, maintain and accurately forecast future performance and motivate actions; ensuring delivery of agreed targets and above market profitable growth. You hold yourself accountable and have your ‘finger on the pulse’ of all parts of the business, anticipating flags and ensuring there are no ‘surprises’ when strategically reporting/modelling.
Member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT): as the Finance Director, you collaborate with your fellow ELT colleagues to achieve common business purposes and goals. You don’t operate in a silo fashion, but rather concentrate on the overall growth agenda.
Who you are & what you will need:
We’re looking for someone who has substantial experience across the breadth of the Finance landscape and has demonstrated increased responsibility in Financial Leadership roles throughout your career. You have a tertiary degree (Bachelor) in Accounting, Finance or equivalent, preferably with an MBA. You are someone who enjoys working both strategically and in a’ hands on’ way as needed.
You currently have at least 5 years’ experience as a Finance Director and have worked across global/multi-national organisations with high corporate demands. Ideally, you have worked in the Industrial, Manufacturing or Service Industries and have led robust financial control and reporting.
