Penguin Composites is a Tasmanian-owned private company operating on the
North West Coast of Tasmania (Australia) since 1976.
We employ an average of 50 full-time staff, with skills in various techniques in Composite Reinforced Plastics supported by an engineering department with Robotics, CAD Design, Welding, Cabinet Making and other skills.
The firm has developed considerable expertise in the application of G.R.P. products in a number of environments including defense, industrial, mining, marine and recreational areas.
About the role
- Prepare monthly management reports including profit & loss statement, balance sheet and cash flow
- Manage and oversee processing of accounts receivable & payable functions
- Reconciling all general ledger accounts
- Manage the finance activities for the business including the development of annual budgets
- Provide monthly analysis of variances between actual results and budget/forecast and identify areas for potential improvement
- Process weekly payroll for all employees in a timely manner
- Liaise with third parties in relation to contract payments and other finance related issues, resolving issues as they arise
- Ensure all BAS returns are lodged on time
- Ensure all PAYG & payroll tax returns are lodged and paid on time
- Assisting with the procurement and verification of appropriate insurances

Skills and experience.
An understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian G.S.T. legislation

- Well-developed problem solving skills with a high degree of initiative and ability to produce timely and quality results.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of a range of relevant software including Microsoft Word, ERP software, Excel and accounting software such as Xero.
