We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about analytical thinking to provide much needed support to the Finance & Administration department of a Local Government organisation. The business currently employs over 400 people and proudly deliver a broad variety of services and facilities to the local community.

The Finance Officer will be an integral part within the Financial Services Unit, assisting in the delivery of key objectives driven by the organisations Strategic Plan relating to financial activities. The successful candidate would be required to provide advice and support in relation to Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable. The position will also support the Finance Team Leader and other Senior team members where required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Processing of procurement transactions
  • Processing of Council payments
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Contribute to a constructive and customer focussed team environment
  • Provide operational support in relation to accounts payable and accounts receivable; and
  • Ensure the timely processing of invoices and the development, implementation and monitoring of appropriate processes, procedures and teamwork.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Certificate IV in accounting, financial management, business management or other related discipline or demonstrated strong relevant experience in a similar role; or
  • Demonstrated strong experience (minimum 3 years) in an accounting environment with experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines.

Highly Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Council's corporate systems or previous Local Government experience
