About the Organisation

The Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (DYHS) was established in 1974 and is the largest Aboriginal community-controlled health service in Perth.  Our team of 140 staff enable the delivery of culturally safe holistic and integrated primary health care services to over 15,000 Aboriginal people across four clinics in the Perth metropolitan region. 

 

About the Role

The Financial Controller is an executive role that will report to and be directly accountable to the Business Services Director (BSD). The Financial Controller is accountable for accurate reporting of financial results and managing Derbarl Yerrigan’s financial affairs during a period of significant growth and reform.

 

To be considered, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  1. Bachelor degree within the discipline of Commerce, Finance and/or Accounting, with at least 10 years post qualification experience as a Finance Manager or similar senior role with a proven record of success;
  2. Full and current member of CPA Australia or Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent accountant qualifications;
  3. Advanced computer literacy skills and competent in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Excel and accounting software principles;
  4. Proven ability to manage and work within a multi-disciplinary team including finance team members;
  5. Experience in producing appropriate and timely reports and statements;
  6. Sound understanding of accounting standards, legislative and other reporting requirements for Community Controlled Aboriginal Corporations;
  7. It is an essential requirement for this position to maintain a WA National Police Clearance, no older than three years from date of issue;
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  9. Current WA Driver’s License;
  10. A WA National Police Clearance that is not older than six months and maintained every three (3) years from date of issue.
