We are embarking on an exciting new direction and are seeking a Financial Controller to join the Tas Gas team as we look into the future for a cleaner world.

Working with the CFO, this role would suit someone who has a desire or experience in being a 2IC and leading teams. With up to 4 direct and 2 indirect reports, this role will allow you to use your hands on approach and ability to lead in the provision of a range financial services.

As a senior member of Tas Gas, you will have the opportunity to contribute towards the continued success of our business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working as the 2IC to the CFO and with other internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of customer service.
  • Overseeing reconciliations, reporting, P&L and monthly balance sheets.
  • Monthly reporting.
  • Monitoring and developing financial controls.
  • Group consolidations and statutory reporting.
  • Lead and develop the finance team to achieve business outcomes.
  • Ensure that the financial accounting and statutory and regulatory reporting are performed accurately.
  • Maintain an appropriate internal control environment.
  • Identifying areas of potential improvement.

What you need to succeed

You will be tertiary qualified in a Finance related discipline along with a minimum of five years demonstrated experience in a Corporate or Senior Financial Accounting role. You will also:

  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to relate well to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Have high personal standards and be self-motivated.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure.
  • Enjoy working to a high level of attention to detail within specific time frames.
  • Be the kind of person who can think on their feet, use initiative and problem solve as issues arise. 
  • Be self-sufficient, but also have a willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Be someone who can quickly assess the situation and come up with several approaches to a problem.
