Financial & Regulatory Reporting Manager

  • Lead the Insurance Financial and Regulatory Reporting team
  • Deliver financial reporting and APRA reporting for the Suncorp Insurance Entities

The Role

This role is part of the Insurance Financial Reporting and Control team which provides end to end financial control, financial reporting and APRA reporting for the Suncorp Insurance Entities’ (ex-Life) activities. As the Financial & Regulatory Reporting Manager, you will Lead the Insurance Financial and Regulatory Reporting team, Coordinate the financial reporting process for the Suncorp Insurance entities and deliver accurate financial statements and other documents and disclosures for the Suncorp Insurance entities (standalone and consolidated)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the consolidated financial statements, left hand note analysis, ASX Appendices and Board Audit Committee papers for the licensed general insurance entity in the Suncorp Group as well as other Insurance entities
  • Alongside the Process and Delivery Manager, develop artefacts, timetables, tools and templates and process to be used across the Financial & Regulatory reporting teams in the FRC business streams to deliver year end and half year results
  • In collaboration with the Process and Delivery Manager, lead the Insurance Financial and regulatory reporting functional team preparation for year-end
  • Responsible for establishing, maintaining and reviewing financial statements model, templates, standard operating procedures, work papers, processes and systems supporting the FRC team deliverables across the group
  • Ensure draft financial reports, information and working papers provided to external auditors are high quality, adequately reviewed and timely to support a smooth audit process
  • Lead and contribute to the implementation of IFRS17 into the General Insurance financial reporting process working closely with the IFRS17 Project team
  • APRA, ASIC and ABS reporting as required
  • Collaborate with business units, other FRC teams and partner firms to assess and gather necessary information and insights for the purposes of completing regulatory returns and ancillary documents
  • Responsible for the interpretation and application of new regulatory reporting requirements that affect the licensed General Insurer

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of financial reporting experience (mandatory)
  • Proven track record of leading and working in large teams across a matrix environment (mandatory)
  • Successful delivery of complex statutory financial statements
  • Strong regulatory reporting knowledge in relation APRA and ASIC legislation, practice statements, guidance and implementation
  • Ability to apply technical accounting skills in a practical manner to achieve problem identification / resolution
  • Proficiency in finance systems (e.g. Oracle, IBM TM1, IBM Cognos Disclosure Management)
  • Strong awareness and support of risk management framework and practices
  • Credible with both senior management and members of Operating Business Unit Finance Teams
