GRA Advisor - Insurance

  • Brisbane or Sydney location
  • Working directly with business stakeholders and regulators
  • 6-month contract

The Role:

The GRA (Group Regulatory Affairs) Advisor – Insurance is responsible for managing and co-ordinating interactions with the key Australian national regulators (APRA, ASIC, ACCC, ACMA, AUSTRAC and OAIC) primarily across Insurance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business on regulatory affairs matters
  • Work constructively with, and take direction from, the Manager, Group Regulatory Affairs (GRA) Insurance, Executive Manager, GRA, and the Insurance Function on regulatory affairs matters
  • Identify and drive opportunities to enhance collaboration across Group Regulatory Affairs, the broader Chief Risk Office (CRO) community and the Functions supported by this role
  • Support the team in the delivery of regulatory affairs advice and oversight across the team, including demonstrating flexibility in the allocation of work across the team 
  • Build and contribute to the capability of Group Regulatory Affairs through professional development
  • Providing quality and timely advice, support and communications to internal stakeholders as relevant to regulatory issues, focusing specifically on Insurance
  • Recording in the relevant systems all correspondence and actions on regulatory issues
  • Conducting ongoing review of existing tools, then providing recommendations and solutions on documentary/system enhancements to improve the Group Regulatory Affairs function
  • Supporting the development and delivery of any new documentary/system enhancements
  • Completing draft content of Board Reports, briefing notes to Senior Management and reports for submission to Executive Manager for review and approval
  • Reviewing the existing reporting and analysis, then provide recommendations and solutions on enhancements and efficiencies to improve the GRA function

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk, compliance related field within the financial services sector
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements that relate to the Suncorp Group
  • Experience in dealing with financial services regulators – Desired
  • Proven experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders, including senior management
  • Demonstrated experience in roles that handle sensitive and confidential material
  • Strong ability to seek out information and break down problems and situations into components, options or alternatives
  • Tertiary qualifications preferably in Law, Business, commerce or finance
