Tell me about the role…

As part of the Finance team, the Graduate Accountant is responsible for supporting the day to day delivery of the financial and management accounting functions. The role has particular focus in financial reporting (internal and external), month end processing and taxation compliance.

The aim of this position is to ensure that Mrs Macs continues to have in place strong business processes in relation to the delivery of our accounting responsibilities. The position will give support and assist management in the decision-making process.

The Graduate Accountant ultimately reports to the Senior Accountant but works with other finance staff in a range of capabilities on an operational, day to day basis.

Role Specific

• Support the Finance team to maintain the fixed asset register, including processing asset additions, transfers, asset tagging, depreciation calculations and period-end adjustment journals where appropriate.
• Assist with the maintenance of banking arrangements, including ensuring that unmatched items or discrepancies in the bank reconciliation process are actioned and resolved.
• Prepare account reconciliations, financial transactions and journals as directed.
• Assist in providing back up to other roles within the Finance team
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a sound financial reporting process.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial reports for internal and external clients, including at month-end, year-end and ad hoc as required.
• Assist the Finance team in supporting the internal and external audit programs.
• Proactively contribute towards a broad range of Finance Operations and Reporting activities by delivering high-quality work product.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate and resolve any unreconciling items.
• Other operational tasks as required

The ideal candidate will be hardworking and motivated to develop in the accounting field and this motivation will be supported by the business with support given to work towards a professional qualification (CA / CPA).  You must have or be nearing completion of a Bachelors Degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting.
