At Aveo, we currently have an opportunity for a Group Assistant Accountant to join us for a fixed term full time contract role until December 2021.
Reporting directly to the Senior Group Financial Accountant, you'll provide day-to-day support to the Group Finance team with regards to transaction processing, financial analysis and audit preparation.
Key focus areas of the role include:
- Support the Senior Group Financial Accountant in delivering excellent IFRS compliant financial reporting on an annual and half-yearly basis
- Assisting with preparation of the annual / half-yearly supporting documentation and calculations that support the financial reports.
- Review of the divisional quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for unusual items and understanding the reason for these and resolving any issues directly with the divisional finance managers.
- Preparation of the monthly reporting templates
- Coding and review of all Corporate invoices and act as key point of contact for Corporate Cost Centre Managers to assist in coding/payment queries.
- Preparation of Corporate prompt payment requests.
- Assist the Non-Retirement division in the settlement processes and coding of invoices.
- Assist Corporate Management Accountant and Corporate Finance Manager in year-end audit reporting queries and ad-hoc / monthly reporting
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Sound knowledge of AIFRS. US GAAP knowledge would be beneficial, but not required.
- Experience of preparing complex consolidated financial statements and reporting packs, ideally in the property investment / development sector.
- Experience in transactional support to finance teams, including invoice processing, preparation of reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Willingness to assist other areas from time to time as appropriate.
- The ability to persuade, convince, influence or impress others in relation to a specific agenda while at the same time building lasting relationships and networks
- The ability to demonstrate a practical commitment to exceeding customer expectations through anticipating and understanding their needs - internal and external focus
- Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
- Takes ownership of the interests of the business and demonstrates a commitment to achieving personal, team and business area objectives
- Outstanding positive and engaging interpersonal skills with an emphasis on being a team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the confidence to professionally present to relevant audiences and stakeholders
- Professional Accounting Qualification (CPA/CA) - preferred
