About the Role

The Accounting and Data team is responsible for the processing and integrity of the data in the Bank’s General Ledger system for Region Australia, New Zealand. This requires the implementation of effective controls to monitor the validity and reasonableness of the General Ledger data. The data in the General Ledger is required to be booked in accordance with the Accounting Standards.

The focus will be on the following priorities:

  • Monitoring the data quality in the General Ledger including the data automatically received from the Core banking systems

  • Improving the financial controls of Rabobank Region Australia, New Zealand with a focus on legal entity management

  • Increasing automation of the General Ledger data processing by eliminating unnecessary manual interventions

  • Ensuring that the data in the General Ledger is compliant with the Accounting Standards

This will make the Bank a more data-driven institution, enhancing controls and helping simplify how people work.

The role requires strong leadership and communication skills as the position leads the Accounting and Data team within Rabobank’s Finance & Control department.  The Accounting and Data team are responsible for all the data in the General Ledger including automated systems feeds, Product Control data, Cost data, tax effect accounting and Accounts Payable.

The role will have oversight of the local data quality program for all the data in the Finance domain.  The role will drive scalable data quality measurement within the Australian and New Zealand region.

A few key responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Reporting directly to the CFO, proactively lead the team that is responsible for the processing and integrity of the data in the Bank’s General Ledger system. This requires the implementation of effective controls to monitor the validity and reasonableness of the General Ledger data. The data in the General Ledger is required to be booked in accordance with the Accounting Standards and be aligned to the documented Accounting Glossaries.

  • Oversight of the MOPC activities including Markets and Treasury P&L and all financial controls related to the Markets and Treasury business (including IPV, FOBO, account reconciliations, etc.).

  • Planning, adapting and implementing any changes to the operating environment that affects the General Ledger including the addition of new products, new processes, or any new accounting or regulatory requirements.

  • Oversight of the data quality issues and monitoring the actions required to be taken to resolve issues that are recorded.

  • Improving the financial controls of Rabobank Region Australia, New Zealand with a focus on legal entity management.

  • Being a key stakeholder on all projects or initiatives that can affect the data in the General Ledger

  • Increasing automation of the General Ledger data processing by eliminating unnecessary manual interventions.

  • Review and fully understand regulatory requirements related to data management.

  • Take the role of secretary of the Finance Data Quality Board.

  • Represent Region Australia, New Zealand on the global Design Authority.

  • Active involvement with the development of the Finance TOM and the implementation of this TOM in the region.

  • Is a member of the CFOMT.

Who are we looking for

To be successful in this role you will have a Bachelor Degree qualification – in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline and be CPA or CA qualified. A minimum of 10 years financial markets experience preferable in banking/finance industry or external audit with Banking audit experience. You will have Strong knowledge of banking products and the finance industry. Hands-on knowledge and implementation experience on data quality practices and  Strong understanding of accounting standards. You will need to be an effective communicator with good problem solving, analytical and decision making skills as well as interpersonal and people leadership experience including coaching and managing team dynamics.
