Speech & Language Development Australia (SALDA) is the nation’s peak body supporting and advocating for the needs of children and young people with speech, language, and related disorders. SALDA provides a range of services including The Glenleighden School, School Support Services, Allied Health Assessment and Therapy Services, Professional Learning, and Research and Advocacy.
The mission of this Not-For-Profit is to educate, support and advocate for children and young people with Language Disorder, enabling them to find their voice. Developmental Language Disorder is a condition that affects how children think about, understand, and use language. It is the primary impairment that contributes to restrictions in an individual’s participation and well-being in everyday activities. Since 1976, Speech & Language Development Australia (SALDA) have committed to supporting all children and young people to find their voice.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Head of Finance and Commercial Services is responsible for the timely delivery of SALDA’s financial performance reporting and analysis for the CEO and the leadership team, with a continuous improvement mindset and best practice approach. This role is responsible for preparing the financial reports for the group, monthly accounts & costing analysis, and the provision of management reports to various business teams enabling them to effectively manage their budgets. This position is also responsible for providing sound commercial and analytical support to deliver profitable and sustainable growth.
The Head of Finance and Commercial Services is a member of the SALDA Leadership Team demonstrating discretion, honesty, and integrity in all internal and external SALDA relationships showing a strong commitment to the organisation and achievement of its objectives.

You will be CA/CPA qualified with strategic experience in a financial management role. You’ll be a strong people leader with highly developed emotional intelligence and communication skills with demonstrated success in inspiring cultural change within a diverse team of professionals or organisation. You’ll have an understanding of the specific requirements of financial management and business acquisition in the not-for-profit sector and have a willingness to work across all areas of the business, and the ability to be involved in operational as well as strategic work.
Knowledge of current government practices in relation to funding for health, education, disability, and welfare will be highly regarded. The successful applicant must possess or be eligible to possess a Blue Card.
