Mō tēnei tūrangi mahi | About this role We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Analyst to join our busy and dynamic team. In this role you be responsible for the development, maintenance and running of our models and databases required to estimate greenhouse gas emissions from New Zealand's land use and forests. A key part of this role involves the configuration and running of various complicated models for input into our annual greenhouse gas inventory and net position reports. You will lead the modelling and data management work-stream to ensure our international reporting obligations are met, and provide analysis, evidence and insights to support our international and domestic policy settings on land-use and forestry. You will be key in the scoping and implementation of New Zealand's future reporting obligations under the Paris Agreement and the Zero Carbon Act. You will also look to innovate within our system to automate and improve our land use and forestry modelling, projections and report drafting processes. This role is in the Climate Change Directorate within the Land Use Carbon Analysis System (LUCAS) team. The LUCAS team ensures that New Zealand meets its international greenhouse gas reporting obligations and tracks progress against its climate change targets. LUCAS is an integral part of the Climate Change Directorate, providing evidence, research and evaluation into climate change policy. LUCAS has a wider role across government providing information on land use and forestry for environmental reporting purposes.
