QML Pathology offers above Award wages through its Certified Agreement, as well as employment benefits such as bulk billing of pathology and x-ray services, and health and wellbeing programs. A vacancy currently exists for a Full Time Laboratory Assistant to perform basic processing duties in our Pre-Analytical Haematology Department at our Central Laboratory in Murarrie. This role will be required to work a minimum of 76 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am and 1.30am.
Participation in a Saturday and public holiday roster is required


Your duties will include:

•    Routine receipting and processing of specimens;
•    Pre and post analytical specimen handling;
•    Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens;
•    Filing and storage of specimens;
•    Assisting Scientists in the Lab
•    Preparing samples for transport to Brisbane laboratory/ies.

You will possess:

•    A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures;
•    Must be a cohesive and contributing member of the team and display positive attitudes towards achieving outcomes;
•    Strong time management, interpersonal and organisational skills;
•    Attention to detail;
•    Problem solving skills;
•    Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety and quality assurance processes and procedures; and
•    Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential.
