Due to continued success and growth, HRL has an opportunity for a hands-on Laboratory Technician to join our Analytical Services Team on a casual basis, to assist in the delivery of laboratory services in our Mulgrave facilities with full training provided. 

About the role

Working as part of a team, in line with government operating and reporting standards,  the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for:

  • sample preparation of biomass and alternative fuels
  • testing of samples
  • following all documented procedures to ensure maintenance of quality accreditation
  • operating laboratory equipment including calorimeters
  • maintenance of the test results data base
  • conducting Quality Control assessment of data and assisting with reporting of results.
  • assisting with undertaking of waste audits

The role will include working in the afternoons in the laboratory as well as at client’s sites as part of project work.

The Analytical team see this role as the first step towards an ongoing role, as the position will support an area of the business with significant growth potential.

You will be energetic in your approach, a committed and enthusiastic team player, passionate to pursue continuous learning and willing to undertake a wide range of tasks. 

You will have:

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Chemistry or related field,
  • A commitment to safe work practices
  • High levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to work without supervision and complete allocated tasks
  • A sound knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of packages including Excel
  • A valid driver’s licence
