Recent staff changes has created an opportunity for an experienced Legal Credit Officer to manage the function for the business and its various entities. This is a standalone role and reports directly through to the Accounting Manager. The role will suit someone who has solid experience with managing account escalations after final demands, including customer payment negotiations and lodging court documents and proceedings. It will also manage all accounts that are placed into Administration, Liquidation or Receivership and will lodge any trade insurance claims as required.

Specifically the role will be responsible for:

  • Look after the collections process after final demand ensuring statutory requirements are upheld
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with customer where possible and ensure they are adhered to
  • Evaluate cost of collection fees against debt to decide recovery action
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to investigate any dispute put forward by customers
  • Lodge and issue court documents on behalf of company and attend any court proceedings as necessary
  • Conduct skip traces when unable to locate debtor
  • Keep accurate records on administrations, liquidations and deed of arrangements & lodge appropriate paperwork to secure our debt
  • Manage the credit default process
  • Manage company's security interests including lodgement of caveat and PPSR
  • Initiate and manage insurance claims when appropriate
  • Prepare the monthly bad debt report for write off, and record any recoveries after the debt has been written off.

This role is ideal for someone with extensive Legal Credit experience. You may be currently working as a 2IC or a Legal Credit Senior and are wanting that next step in your career. It is a standalone role and one which will be the focal point for all legal actions relating to credit, so you will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly detailed and organised and be able to multi task. The role may eventually manage the new accounts function down the track and therefore someone who has previous staff supervision or a desire to supervise is highly desirable.
