This position is responsible for providing support to the wider financial services team in monthly management reporting, annual statutory reporting, grants commission reporting as well and providing assistance as directed in the development of Council's Annual Budget and Long-Term Financial Plan.

My client is a local government business located in the Northern-Suburbs of Melbourne

Description

Support the month end management reporting process including positing of month end journals, analysis of monthly financial results and working with department Manager's on month end commentary for inclusion in the monthly management report.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with department managers, gaining understanding of service delivery and opportunities to add value.

Support the Management Accounting Coordinator in the preparation of the monthly management report, including supplying department commentary on key actual v budget variances.

Provide support in the development of key finance deliverable including the Annual Budget, Long Term Financial Strategy, Annual Financial Statements and other reporting as required from the financial services team.

Provide support in the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliation as required.

Read, understand, comply with and uphold the companies values

Profile

CPA or CA Membership (or equivalent)

A minimum of five years' experience in a senior finance role including management of resources

Strong understanding of accounting principles and concepts and ability to translate these in an understandable way for non-financial stakeholders.

Successful record in providing support in the preparation of key documents including the Annual Budget and Annual Financial Statements

Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with department managers, gaining understanding of service delivery and opportunities to add value.

Proven ability to effectively plan, organise and manage your own time to achieve targets within a set timetable, despite conflicting pressures

Proven leadership expertise to motivate, develop and mentor individuals and a team

Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating liaison, influencing, negotiation, analytical, problem resolution and written communication
