About the Role

We are seeking applications for an Occupational Hygiene Technician to be based in our Townsville office and consideration will be given to assisting with reasonable relocation costs for the right person.

Graduates with an interest in pursuing a hygiene career are encouraged to apply given the successful applicant will be provided with structured internal training covering basic occupational hygiene theory and sampling techniques. 

Reporting to the Regional Team Leader, key responsibilities will include:

• Providing occupational hygiene services to our clients in the field, including assessments and monitoring.
• Conducting occupational exposure monitoring and developing sampling plans.
• Reviewing sample data, entering it into company databases.
• Field observations and review of control effectiveness.
• Providing accurate and reliable data for Technical Reports and Proposals.
• Writing survey reports.

About You

We are looking for someone with a passion for health, safety and hygiene who ideally has 2 years' experience within the resources and/or heavy industry sector. Key competencies include:  

• Can demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with high-level clients;
• Competent computer skills in Microsoft, including Word and Excel;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including reporting writing;
• Excellent time management and organisational skills;
• The ability to work well autonomously with a resilient nature;
• The ability to communicate information to technical and non-technical personnel;
• A current Queensland open class driver's licence.

Desirable Attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Chemistry, OHS, Science and/or Environmental disciplines;
• BSBWHS409 (Statement of Attainment);
• Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
