The Position

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Accountant role is responsible for performing a range of accounting and financial functions to support the corporate financial obligations of our organisation. The position requires strong business and financial acumen with a practical focus and exceptional stakeholder management skills. This position will require a suitably qualified Assistant Accountant to work 2 - 3 days per week, preferably Monday - Wednesday.

Responsibilities

• Transactional support to the business
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
• Weekly payroll processing for over 300 staff
• Accounts payable processing
• Assist in maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
• Revenue analysis and integration of data into accounting system
• Systems maintenance, including Microsoft Dynamics GP and Micropay Meridian
• Ad hoc financial analysis
• Other duties from time to time as determined by the Financial Accountant

The successful applicant will have:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Understanding of statutory financial reporting requirements
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise and use your initiative
• Attention to detail and analytical skills
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to work both independently, with minimal supervision, and in a team environment
• ‘People person’ who is confident and has a positive personality
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated compliance to organisational policies and procedures
• Professional approach maintaining sensitive and confidential information
• Demonstrate advanced competency in Microsoft Office skills
• Knowledge of computerised accounting and financial management system; Microsoft Dynamics GP
• Experience with Micropay Meridian would be highly regarded
• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Business discipline
• Australian Citizen or Permanent Residency Status
