The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll / Accounts Assistant to join the institute on a full time,12 month fixed term contract.
This position is responsible for supporting both the Payroll Accountant and Accounts Receivable Officer to effectively deliver day to day running of payroll and accounts activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Payroll;
- Supporting all fortnightly payroll functions including preparing and entering payroll data in HRIS/Payroll System timesheets such as leave, salary packaging, salary adjustments, processing new and terminating employees and related payments.
- Respond to payroll queries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist with generating payroll reports as required.
- Provide leave coverage for the payroll accountant as needed.
- Assist in maintaining award rules, classifications and other system related infrastructure as part of the payroll system structure and design.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with the processing of payroll transactions in the accounting ERP, monthly payroll reconciliations and processing of salary recoup invoices.
Accounts Support;
- Support the Accounts Receivable Officer with processing high volume transactional tasks including; processing patient related transactions, payment follow up, account reconciliations, filing and other accounting and admin support duties.
- Process revenue transactions including invoices and receipts collect and receive money incl. cash, cheque, credit card, bank transfers etc.
- Effective credit management processes including follow up of unpaid accounts, credit control and liaise with debt collectors in view of minimising bad debts.
- Sorting and dispatching of documents such as hospital claims and patient invoices.
- Securely handle and store cash.
- Collect, sort and distribute incoming Finance and Admin mail.
Essential Criteria:
- Payroll experience within an organisation of at least 200 staff.
- Administrator experience utilising a payroll/HRIS system.
- Understanding of basic accounts processes and systems.
- Excellent customer service and communications skills.
- High level of computing literacy(Microsoft office suite, internet, email, database).
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Well-developed organisational, time management, multi-tasking and planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal professionally, maintain confidentiality and be discreet in all dealings.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications or training in Finance/Payroll or related field.
- Understanding of ER/Tax/Payroll legislation with regard to Payroll management.
