Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is a modern fire and rescue service that meets the needs of twenty-first century Victoria. Established on 1 July 2020 as part of Victoria's Fire Services Reforms, FRV serves and protects communities across Melbourne and Victoria's major regional centres from 85 FRV fire and rescue stations across the state. Its career firefighters operate 47 fire stations in metropolitan Melbourne and 38 regional stations, most of which are co-located with CFA volunteer brigades. FRV proudly continues to work alongside the Country Fire Authority (CFA), which is a community-based volunteer fire service.

Your new role
The Payroll Manager Systems and Services will manage, develop and oversee HR systems and processes for payroll to ensure that they are contemporary, accurate, efficient and embed good governance and compliance. 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing and continually improving the quality and efficiency of the payroll function, including establishing and implementing effective change to the payroll system to meet the immediate and longer term payroll requirements of the organisation.
  • Producing and maintaining accessible and accurate data analytics to enable evidence based decision making and evaluating FRV’s delivery against outcomes.
  • Providing effective leadership to the payroll team across two systems to ensure efficient and effective delivery of payroll services, with a strong focus on customer delivery and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensuring FRV delivers its strategic objectives through behaviours, leadership, policy and processes through embedding and adhering to the organisational values and culture.

What you’ll need to succeed

Attributes and skills required to be successful in this role include:

  • A relevant tertiary / postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or similar, is required
  • Extensive experience in SAP payroll and Pay Global processing (SAP ECC 6 preferred).
  • Highly developed financial and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in multiple HRIS and payroll systems (preferably SAP and Pay Global) incorporating rostering systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing, planning and implementing highly accurate and compliant payroll and rostering systems to meet current and future demands.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing end to end remuneration management including knowledge of general accounting practices, superannuation, FBT and payroll tax principles.
  • Sound understanding in interpretation of industrial agreements and their application in a 24 x 7 rotating shift environment.
