Payroll Officer - Fixed Term Contract

We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance Shared Services (FSS) team based in either Sydney or Newcastle, on a six (6) month fixed term contract.  This role is part of our payroll team and will appeal to those with strong communication and customer service skills and a high level of self-motivation, energy and drive.

Working with Payroll Team Leader this exciting position will see you partnering with the business and see you involved in:

  • Operating with a high level of detail in working with our external partner on payroll processing and queries including new hires and terminations
  • Partnering with internal team members to respond to internal stakeholder queries 
  • Proactively respond to various employee queries as you provide timely solutions with a high level of customer service
  • To support the FSS function by undertaking the duties assigned by the Team Leader/Manager in adherence to separation of duties guidelines based on workload requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all GHD finance policies and procedures


What would you bring to the team?

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a similar fast-paced payroll support position 
  • Team and customer-oriented focus
  • Intermediate computer skills (especially Excel) and previous experience in the use of payroll systems
  • Well-developed communication skills, a high attention to detail and strong team skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support varied internal partners and operate in a high-volume environment 
  • Strong time management skills and a proactive approach to delivering against set deadlines
  • Those with previous experience with SAP system payroll engine will be viewed favourably  
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise workload
  • Initiative and problem-solving ability
  • First class communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a professional approach and attitude
  • Proven experience working within a large / complex organisation
  • Strong adherence to GHD values, Codes of Conduct and Policies
