The Geospatial team sits in and is part of the Research and Analytics team at the Agency. It aims to provide an evidence base to support and underpin smarter, evidence-based decisions, for Waka Kotahi decision makers and those in the wider land transport sector. 

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

In this role you will provide technical and analytical thought leadership, consultancy and support services to the Geospatial Team and the business to enable the adoption or continuous improvements of technologies to meet the objectives of the business.

The role will look to collaborate across all aspect of the Agency to help shape and deliver key projects and programmes for better transport sector outcomes by providing fit for purpose geospatial solutions and services to both internal and external users.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Ability to probe all relevant sources of information in a timely manner, effectively sees opportunities, implications and hidden problems.
  • Articulate future visions, possibilities and likelihoods related to geospatial in the Transport sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and enable the delivery of complex strategic outcomes through others.
  • Understanding of business planning, procurement, and the delivery of Programmes.
  • Significant experience of applying geospatial or similar information practices to deliver business outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of geospatial principles and best practice.
  • Working experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online desirable.
  • Working knowledge of transport related data such as traffic flows, real time data collection and modelling techniques is desirable.
  • Working experience with Geospatial data management workflows and analysis utilising FME.
  • Working knowledge of the Data Analytics, Data Science fields would be desirable.
  • Experience working in government or a large organisation.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Sciences, GIS, Geography or similar.
