Project Accountant

  • 6 month contract w/Immediate start
  • $40-$50/hour + super
  • Parramatta Location w/ potential WFH arrangements

About the Role:

To support the effective financial management of projects, programmes and portfolios by delivering robust project reporting and accounting. To be achieved by ensuring the integrity of project financial data that facilitates informed investment decision making and management of benefits realisation.
  • Provide administrative support where required to time sheeting function within the business
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience assisting in operationalising a new Project Cost Management tool, including completing the required manual monthly integrations and data flows with FMIS
  • Assist in deploying and ensuring compliance with new cost control measures (WBSs, purchase order requirements etc)
  • General BAU maintenance of project data in FMIS/TM1 and end of month reporting
Responsibilities:
  • Project lifecycle financial reporting
  • Collation of information to prepare project, program and portfolio forecasts, variance analysis and risk management strategies
  • Modelling of capital expenditure forecasts
  • Preparing, reviewing annual, quarterly project budgets (Opex and Capex)
  • Ensuring the integrity of the internal control environment 
  • Preparing project accounting reconciliations and audit work papers 
  • Prepare project accounting information, analysis and insights to provide commercial and strategic advice to the leadership team
  • Prepare information and analysis for projects, programs and portfolios to ensure compliance with agreed ways of working across project accounting reporting, governance and risk management activities.
  • Collate capex data for external reporting purposes
  • Perform Capital Reporting Data Maintenance (FMIS / TM1 Projects / Workbench / PM Data Portal / P6)
  • Assisting with internal and external audit requirements
  • Support the development of the enterprise annual + 5 year capital investment program (CIP) and 20-30 year long-term forecast

System requirements:
  • Financial Management Information System (FMIS)
  • Corporate budgeting and reporting system (TM1)
  • Various modelling tools
About you:

  • Relevant degree qualification (e.g. Economics, Business, Accounting) or experience deemed equivalent
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (CA/CPA) desirable (or studying towards)
  • 4+ years’ experience working in finance in a large complex organisation, preferably in a similar organisation or industry sector (i.e. asset intensive and/or regulated)
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a finance, commerce or business role demonstrating knowledge of project accounting policies, project appraisal, project planning & budgeting, and financial reporting requirements, 
  • Strong technical, analytical, and strong communication skills
