As part of our progress, NGA is seeking a Project Accountant who will be responsible for the management of project financials in conjunction with Project Managers or Capture Managers. The position acts as a business partner to project teams by working together to achieve project objectives. This includes project set up, monitoring and control, adherence to project and company policies and procedures.  

The position will be based in Symonston, Canberra and is expected to be Fixed Term 12 months with the view of extension.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Project set up and closure including set up and maintenance of cost control systems.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated set of program planning and management products that show traceability from the negotiated scope, basis of estimates and bill of materials to the project management baseline, work breakdown structure, schedule, and cost accounts.
  • Monitor and control project cost, schedule and scope.
  • Perform analyses and prepare reports to aid decision making.
  • Timely and accurate project and corporate reporting.
  • Incorporate contractual changes, ensure adequate funding on projects.
  • Project risk and opportunity tracking.
  • Track and report on project cash flows.
  • Support project change requests and tenders.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (Finance, Commerce or similar).
  • CPA or CA registered.
  • Project financial management experience (defence industry experience preferred).
  • Ability to conduct meetings and prepare and present concise reports, briefings, updates and other documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance.

Desired experience

  • Exposure to MS Dynamics, Cobra, MS Project and OPP.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management, revenue recognition and working with scheduling teams.
