About the Team

Based in our Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE) in Redbank Plains. This will be a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast paced, collaborative team of finance professionals. You will have the right environment to learn and grow within this supportive team.

About the role

The Project Controlling Manager is responsible for managing the finance support to projects including: preparation and management of key project financials; preparation of the project Estimate at Completion (EAC); monthly actuals, forecasting and reporting of project financials including cashflows and; managing and maintaining cost control of the project.

The role is also responsible for developing the project controlling capability for RDA including management and improvement of policies, procedures and systems, which support project-controlling activities.

As a Project Controlling Manager, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

Project Financial Control

  • Liaise with Project Managers and Project Directors on their performance against budget and provide specialist financial management advice on budget control and forecast outcomes;
  • Provide ongoing training and support to project staff on the budgeting and reporting system;
  • Establish and maintain project cost structures within SAP for planned and actual costs;
  • Develop, implement and maintain RDA's Long Term Financial Plan for projects and its strategic and operational objectives.

Reporting & Forecasting

  • Lead the production of quarterly and monthly project performance reports and forecasts including detailed variance analysis;
  • Develop monthly reporting regime, quarterly performance reports, and the Annual Business Planning.
  • Lead the regular Estimate at Completion reviews for the project, working closely with project management to ensure an accurate assessment of cost to complete the project is developed;

Project Controlling Capability

  • Responsible for managing and improving RDA's project controlling capability.
  • Develop and document RDA's project controlling policies and procedures.
  • Manage, develop and maintain project controlling tools and templates
  • Develop, deliver and maintain project-controlling training across the business including EAC training.
  • Provide financial advice to Project Managers and the Senior Management in respect to project controlling.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

Required:

  • Experience in managing financials for major projects;
  • 5+ years' experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance/ Accounting/ Commerce or related disciplines;
  • 5+ years' experience in project cost planning, scheduling and development of financial reports and analysis;
  • Sound knowledge of costing/management accounting practices;
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully business partnering with multiple non-finance functions;
  • Previous experience in SAP FI/CO and PS;
  • Advanced MS Office skills i.e. Excel, Powerpoint; and
  • Ability to travel interstate and globally when required.
