Purchasing Officer

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional to be responsible for the delivery and implementation of Council’s purchasing services, as well as the delivery of compliance services associated with procurement and purchasing functions of council.

As Purchasing Officer, you will join our Procurement & Contracts Team and will be responsible for assisting internal stakeholders with identification and definition of goods and services needs. You will carry out data entry and processing functions for purchasing activities including the preparation, processing and follow up of OLRs and Purchase Orders and implement and facilitate continuous improvement activities for internal and external stakeholders.

About You

We are seeking an individual who holds a Certificate IV qualification (or higher) in purchasing, procurement, tendering, contracts or similar related qualification, or willingness to gain one of these qualifications.

You will have the following skills and experience;

  • Understanding of public sector governance and legislative compliance.
  • Demonstrable experience in interpreting legislation/guidelines applicable to purchasing, procurement, contract management, accounts payable and WHS.
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office and financial management software systems.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in supply, purchasing and logistics or related field (indicative).

This is a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week. Remuneration is $1240.30 per week, plus 9.5% employer superannuation contribution.
