This is a key role within the Primary Connect Finance team with genuine business partnering opportunities and contribution to the broader finance strategy.

About the role

You will provide and leverage strategic, analytical and financial appraisal and insights of the Secondary Freight volume, Despatch and Non Despatch costs across Woolworths Group (inc Endeavour and Big W). Act as a key business partner and leader within Primary Connect and across all related commercial and finance divisions to build collaborative relationships relating to the Secondary Freight operation. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Accurately managing financial reporting and data for Secondary Freight volume and costs, with a specific focus on understanding key drivers and providing insights 
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager, Transport Manager and National Finance Teams with driving the forecasting and budgeting processes for Secondary Freight volume and costs 
  • Lead the Transport Analyst and Freight Settlement teams to identify, develop and implement opportunities and recommendations to improve the business, financial metrics, systems and reporting tools 
  • Supporting the Zone Commercial Manager and Transport Manager with providing coaching and support to team members across finance and operational functions to build their knowledge and ability to positively influence Secondary Freight operations 
  • Working collaboratively with team members and other business partners to achieve business objectives  
  • Providing decision support and being an effective Finance Business Partner to the State Transport leadership team 
  • Providing timely and accurate analytical support for business cases, network solutions and impacts and benefits tracking 

About you 

You are a commercially minded analyst and able to work with multiple sources of data to provide insight. You have demonstrated planning and problem solving skills including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.

  • Accounting / Finance degree, preferably CPA or CA qualified 
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in commercial or financial analyst roles with demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting and managing either revenue/sales or variable cost lines involving volume, mix and rate analysis
  • Demonstrated achievements in analytical and conceptual finance with experience in financial, variance and forecasting analysis 
  • Confident and competent in managing large volumes of data
  • An ability to provide relevant, timely and insightful commentary that drives change and delivers results 
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage business relationships with internal and 
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (e.g. Google Sheets, Slides, Docs) and/or Microsoft Office (e.g. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
