This is a level 8/9 position. Salary range is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Nine Day Fortnight, Premium Recquatic Membership, annual leave loading of 17.5% and up to 15.5% superannuation

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Management Accountant to join the Finance team at the City of Kwinana. Reporting to the Manager Finance, you will be responsible for leading and managing the City’s annual budget which will include the long term financial plans, statutory budgets, budget reviews, as well as developing and maintaining quality management reporting.

You will also be responsible for providing support to the Finance team and will engage with other internal stakeholders on matters relating to the financial operations of the City to ensure compliance and legislation is adhered to.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

  • Extensive experience in the provision of a Local Government’s finance services.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislations and statutory requirements that apply to the position; accounting fundamentals and standards pertaining to Local Government.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing and data collection skills. Be able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and judgement; meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Extensive computer literacy skills and knowledge of computerised accounting systems, including Microsoft Excel and ERP’s.
  • Effective organisation skills to plan and deliver excellent customer services.
  • High level of numeracy, analytical and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or relevant discipline.
  • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia or Certified Practicing Accountants Australia, or currently working towards gaining membership.
