A rare opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our Melbourne team for a 12 month Maternity Leave contract.

This role is diverse, challenging and interesting, with opportunities to interact and build relationships with our high net-worth clients.
 

Who we are looking for:

  • A qualified Senior Tax Accountant with extensive professional experience 6+ years
  • Sound technical knowledge to enable the preparation/review of financial accounts, income tax returns and activity statements for Trusts (discretionary trusts, unit trusts & hybrid trusts), Companies, Partnerships and Individuals
  • Someone with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • An expert in their field who has a passion for undertaking tax research and interpreting tax legislation for clients
  • Someone who is able to draft advice for clients in relation to various Australian taxation issues
  • An excellent communicator who can liaise and negotiate with the ATO on behalf of clients

What would your day-to-day tasks look like?

  • Preparing financial statements and tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
  • Attending and supporting client meetings and appointments (tax compliance/planning)
  • Liaising with our high net-worth clients regarding queries and tax advice
  • Mentoring Junior & Intermediate Accountants
  • Researching and providing detailed client information
  • Undertaking a range of development activities to build your experience and expertise

 

To be in the running for this great role, you should have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role ( 6 years +), preferably within taxation compliance/planning
  • Relevant tertiary qualification, and completed CPA or CA qualification
  • Proficiency in MYOB AE and the Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and retain effective client relationships
  • Team player with a strong attention to detail and high levels of initiative
  • Extensive experience preparing financial accounts, income tax returns and activity statements for individuals, companies, discretionary trusts, unit trusts, hybrid trusts and partnerships
