About the role

We are looking for a Specialist Finance and Reporting to provide ongoing support to our IS&T project teams as well as other local IS&T stakeholders in the field of finance and reporting.

This role is a great opportunity for a finance professional to be part of our IS&T teams transformation and create change in a meaningful. You will interface with project delivery colleagues locally and also our project support teams globally as well as offshore finance teams.

Reporting to the Superintendent Portfolio Management and working in a diverse forward-thinking team within the APAC West Project Management office, you will: 

• Engage with key project IS&T stakeholders, including Business Partners, Project Managers, Program and Portfolio Managers to provide assurance of IS&T and wider Business financial processes
• Work closely with colleagues in local Product Groups to maintain the correct capital standards and policies are applied within IS&T, such as capitalisation
• Coach IS&T controllers, administrators and other project staff that require financial management guidance
• Improve and refine ongoing financial processes
• Provide reporting support and analysis for the local and global leadership team
• Provide project demand management support, including assistance in executing and managing local governance processes
• Support the successful execution of project month end reporting, including development and deployment of financial processes and guidance as well as ad-hoc reporting requirements

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
• Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, or a related field or equivalent
• Good accounting knowledge and preferably a CPA/CA designation or equivalent (newly qualified candidates are welcomed)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Business and commercial acumen and a high attention to detail
• Strong knowledge and competency with the Microsoft Office 365 suite

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience of Rio Tinto Iron Ore financial processes and standards
• Experience in annual budgeting/planning processes
• SAP experience
• Business improvement mindset and skills including the ability to analyse and define problems and to identify appropriate operational or process solutions;
• Experience with Microsoft PowerBI
