Submarine Safety and Certification Manager

Reporting to the Head of Forward Planning and Asset Management, the successful person will be responsible for the safety of personnel and equipment employed on a Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) during maintenance availabilities with the submarine in ASC Material Control (MATCON).

You will be the focal point for communication and agreement with the customer on all issues
associated with the safety and certification of submarines during maintenance and to ensure that submarine licencing can be achieved post the maintenance availability.

As Submarine Safety and Certification Manager you will maintain oversight for the provision on Dockmaster capability and the ongoing certification of the Docking Systems at ASC West and ASC North, in consultation with the Senior Dockmaster.

This permanent, full-time position has the potential to be based from Henderson, WA or Osborne SA.

The successful individual will possess:

• A Degree and/or proven experience in a relative field such as; Engineering, Safety or Business,
• Significant experience in a compliance/governance management role,
• Proven personnel management experience with supporting qualification(s),
• Strong conflict resolution skills and associated training/certification,
• Track record of demonstrated capabilities in managing quality, certification, safety or environmental management systems,
• Engineering knowledge of systems and equipment on board ships or submarines,
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of SUBSAFE and Defence Seaworthiness requirements,
• Proven abilities to effectively implement management systems in a complex project environment,
• Strong leadership and management skills along with demonstrated experience,
• The ability to influence and negotiate,
• A results-focused drive;
• And ability to effectively resolve complex issues.
